If you're a player who wants to take over the court with fast hands, sharp placement, and spin-heavy shots, the GX2 Power Hybrid is for you. It's the most maneuverable paddle in the GX2 Power line, but still brings the heat. The wide hybrid shape pairs perfectly with Gearbox's suspended CarbonRibCore to give you explosive power, quick hand speed, and a massive sweetspot for consistent control.

Unlike traditional foam or honeycomb paddles, this carbon fiber core is built for longevity - resisting wear, breakdown, and that dreaded mushy feel over time. Compared to the original GX2s, the Power Hybrid feels more responsive, with a fine-tuned balance of pop and placement that thrives in hands battles and sharp angles. If you like to play fast, dictate pace, and attack early, this paddle gives you the tools to stay aggressive without losing control

Great paddle... until it broke inLoved this paddle for the first 12 hours. I had been maining the Surtr so there were a lot of similarities with its performance. Solid power for drives, serves, etc. The pop was noticeable, easy for attacks/counters but not too much to make dinks, drops, and resets unmanageable. Spin was okay, you can generate it with serves/returns but not as much from the kitchen line for dinks. The issue was the break-in, for me it was around 12 hours of play time. Noticeable bump in power but even more so with the pop. All of a sudden those dinks, drops, resets, and counters started going further and with less consistency. I could still play with the paddle but wouldn't want to be in a pressure games such as tournaments where you want your shots to be dialed in. My experience is the same as what was reported on several review channels. If Gearbox hadn't designed this paddle with such a noticeable jump in power/pop I would have kept playing with it. My Surtr has solid power, very similar to the GX2 (pre-break in) and going back to that after my GX2 broke in was like hitting with a control paddle. There was a break-in with my Surtr but marginal, if anything it became more plush. For what the GX2 costs it was an easy decision to return it and keep maining my Surtr which costs a lot less (Gearbox doesn't even include a paddle cover). Since then I've also started playing with the Honolulu J2FC+ Long Handle which is also plays similar to the Surtr and a new GX2 but with more spin, similar price to the Surtr. So if you want something like a GX2 Hybrid without the spike in power/pop then those are easy options. Finally, love Pickleball Warehouse for the 30-day test drive. I've got a buddy who is stuck with GX2 Power Hybrid because he ordered it from Gearbox and can't sell it, even at a massive discount. Gearbox should have been more transparent with the degree in which this paddle breaks in.
