Overview

The JOOLA Collin Johns Scorpeus Pro IV pickleball paddle takes pro-level performance to the next level with Tech Flex Power (TFP) technology, integrating foam in the bottom edges to enhance flexibility, increase the sweet spot, and improve forgiveness on off-center hits. The Propulsion Honeycomb Core offers a perfect balance of soft feel and explosive power, while the Hyper-Foam Edge Wall boosts stability and extends the sweet spot. With a Textured Carbon Fiber Surface and Charged Carbon technology, this paddle delivers exceptional spin and a crisp feel. The 16 inch length and 8 inch shape make this paddle the most control oriented in the Pro IV lineup. The more square shape enhances control on dinks, resets, and drops. Weighing around 8.0 ounces, the Collin Johns Scorpeus Pro IV is ideal for intermediate to pro-level players seeking power, precision, and control.

Scorpeus Pro IVI love this paddle. Great control and still has plenty of power. This has really brought my game to another level.

Expensive, but a great paddleI have been playing pickleball for about a year and am somewhat of an equipment junkie. I've had over 15 paddles in that time but nothing over the $180. range. Due to the Pickleball Warehouse generous return policy, I decided to order this paddle and the CRBN Tru Foam 2 so I could convince myself that I wasn't "missing out" on anything in the more expensive paddles. The Tru Foam was returned within a few weeks of play BUT as much as I wanted to say that the Pro IV was "nothing special", I couldn't bear to give it up! It has plenty of power but my dinking and drops are still very controllable. I also like the shape (standard but not too fat) and the 4.25" grip diameter. It just feels right and I surprise myself with some of the shots that I'm now making. So the bottom line is that the ONLY thing I don't like about it is the price range:)

Amazing paddle, able to reset any ball!I had used the original Joola Scorpeus Collin Johns 16mm for almost 2 years, really liked it and bought a 2nd one after the surface wore out on my first one because I couldn't find another paddle which played similarly. I held off buying the Gen 3 model since it wasn't USAPA certified. When the Pro IV version came out, I was pretty excited. Read some reviews and decided to try it out. What a paddle! With the old Scorpeus, I was unable to control my soft shots (dinks, drops, resets) to where I wanted, they were either going into the net, too far beyond the kitchen or popping up. This paddle puts everything where I am aiming! Dinks are consistently falling into the kitchen, along with 3rd or 5th shot drops, and I can regularly reset volleys or hard hit overheads back into the kitchen. I've not changed any strokes, the paddle seems to respond to how I hit the ball, which I'd never experienced with other paddles. The paddle feels very soft, and seems to absorb hard shots and doesn't overhit soft shots. On the flip side, the softer feel tends to propel balls on hard drives further than I expected if I accelerate too quickly through the ball. So I needed to make an adjustment on my drives but that's minor compared to the advantages I see for my soft game. The other minor downside is that it is slightly heavier than the old Scorpeus, I weighed both and my Pro IV is 8.3-8.4 oz vs. 8.0-8.1 for my previous model. It hasn't affected my paddle speed, and I only notice it when I compare the 2 paddles side by side. I also tried the 14mm Pro IV since it is lighter, but it played completely differently than the 16mm Pro IV, more like my old 16mm Scorpeus. Other characteristics with the 16mm are all great: spin is terrific, grip is very comfortable, paddle is very stable and off center hits still get over the net. This paddle is expensive, but for my game, it just works!
