JOOLA Paddle Technologies

Now that we have covered JOOLA's different paddle types, let's further discuss the technologies that define their performance.

Carbon Framed Design

JOOLA's official description for the construction of its Carbon Framed Design is: A fully encased carbon frame for increased strength and durability.

The entire 3S series of paddles, the MOD-TA 15's, Perseus, Scorpeus, and the Hyperion C2's all utilize uni-body construction. And besides enhancing strength and durability, another benefit to JOOLA's Carbon Framed Design is better paddle stability, which complements both paddle power and comfort.


Paddle Surfaces

While all JOOLA paddles utilize a polypropylene honeycomb core, their three-letter acronym describes the various types of paddle surfaces. The first letter (C or F) denotes either carbon fiber or fiberglass composition respectively. The second and third letters notate the type of texture.

  • Charged Carbon Surface: A bonding treatment that when combined with CFS strengthens the paddle surface and provides a crisp feel, along with extra energy return.
  • Carbon Friction Surface (CFS): The base layer of JOOLA's premium carbon fiber surface, made of textured Carbon-Flex5, which is durable and offers predictable performance plus superb feel.
  • Carbon Grip Surface (CGS): Carbon fiber surface composed of a durable Carbon-Flex3 textured material that grips the ball for long-lasting and easy access to spin.
  • Carbon Drive Surface (CDS): Available with the Seneca CDS 16, this is a carbon dominate hybrid surface material that is durable, spin friendly and slightly increases power off the face of the paddle.


Core Materials

Propulsion Core

A variation on the Reactive Core, JOOLA refers to the latest update and modification to their polypropylene honeycomb core as the Propulsion Core. The, "propulsion" aspect of its name refers to how the core functions. Two varieties of foam surround the core allowing it to sort of float and move (internally) at contact, which adds precision when you need it and power when you want it.

Reactive Core

JOOLA's specifically tuned polypropylene honeycomb core aims to provide a consistent and predictable rebound across the entire paddle face. The comfort-oriented Reactive Core also nominally contributes to overall power and filters out vibration without diminishing feel.

Response Core

A polypropylene honeycomb core that compresses for feel while the cell shape and materials offer great durability and paddle lifespan.

Hyperfoam Edge Wall

Hyperfoam Edge Wall is a game-changer. JOOLA's specialized foam-injected edge adds weight and stability to increase the size of sweetspot. This provides a comfortable, solid feel and consistent rebound during play around the entire surface.

Aero-Curve Design

Aero-Curve Design is JOOLA's unique paddle shape that creates less drag and increases swing speed by rounding the top edge of the paddles.

JOOLA Feel-Tec Pure Grip

JOOLA's new replacement grip does away with the contoured ridge in favor of a sleeker option, with better sweat absorption and feel.

JOOLA Ridge-Grip

JOOLA utilizes its perforated, anti-slip contour/ridge grip that provides excellent absorption properties in terms of perspiration, vibration and is also semi-tacky.
