Paddletek Bantam GTO: A Closer Look

Watch: Bantam GTO Paddle Overview

Overview

The Bantam GTO is Paddletek’s first dedicated hybrid-shape paddle, designed for players who want a balance of power and control without going fully elongated. At 16.25 inches long with a 5.5-inch handle, it sits between Paddletek’s standard and elongated shapes to offer extra reach and drive while maintaining maneuverability for net play.

Design & Shape

Unlike past Bantam models, the GTO introduces a rounded head and tapered throat. This shape expands the sweet spot and shifts the balance point slightly toward the head (~1.7 inches above center). That added head weight translates to more swingweight power, making it easier to drive the ball deep while still offering the stability needed for resets and dinks.

Performance & Play Style

Paddletek developed the GTO through extensive testing, including 18 shape variations and feedback from both pro and high-level amateur players. The result is a paddle that supports aggressive topspin drives and roll shots while remaining reliable in touch play.

It’s especially suited to players who want more power than a traditional control paddle provides, but who still need responsiveness and feel at the net. The head-heavy balance boosts power but can slow hand speed slightly compared to standard shapes, a tradeoff players should consider if they rely on ultra-fast hands battles.

Core & Construction

Made entirely in the USA, the Bantam GTO uses Paddletek’s cold-pressed polymer core technology. Unlike heat-based methods that can weaken polymers over time, this process is designed for consistent, long-lasting performance.

Players can choose between two core thicknesses for the feel they want:

  • 12.7 mm (½ in): More power, livelier response
  • 14.3 mm (9/16 in): Added control without losing pop

Who It's For

Best for intermediate to advanced players who want a true hybrid: extra power for driving shots and passing volleys, paired with enough control and stability for resets and soft game play. It’s ideal for those wanting the punch of an elongated paddle without giving up maneuverability at the net.

With its carefully engineered shape and proven construction, the Bantam GTO offers players a versatile option that bridges the gap between power and control in one thoughtfully designed paddle.
