Luxilon ALU Power Silver 16/1.30 String Reel - 660'
5.0

Overview
Luxilon releases a 16 gauge version ALU Power, one of the most popular tennis strings ever made. Offering a tad more control and durability than ALU Power 16L, this string will let you swing even bigger when adding spin and pace to your shots (think heavy ball). In addition to being a great option for intermediate and advanced players, this is a must hit for fans of the original ALU Power 16L.
- Gauge: 16/1.30mm
- Length: 660ft/200m
- Composition: Co-polymer (nylon) + Fluorocarbon resin

My first new polyMy first new poly string; I have Solinco Tour Bite in a racquet I got off eBay, but no clue how old it is or what the tension is, so that doesn't really count. I'm used to Prince synthetic gut when I played as a junior in the early/mid 90's (and strung fairly tight at 68 pounds), and since recently getting back to playing again I've been using Yonex Rexis Speed 16L at lower tensions ranging from 57 to 62 pounds depending on the racquet. While I really like the comfort, spin and feel of the Yonex, I'm finding I can do without the extra power of the Rexis in some of my racquets, particularly the Wilson Shift Pro; plus I generally play better with smaller 95's versus larger racquets like the Shift anyway. I have the Shift strung at 57 pounds with the Rexis, which tends to launch the ball well out especially with a slice backhand, which is way too loose of a tension for that string in that racquet (for me). I have the Luxilon ALU Power 1.25mm in one of my Pro Staff Six.One 95 v14's, strung at 51/50 pounds and even at (for me) this crazy low tension, I can pretty much keep the ball in at will regardless of the stroke I'm hitting, which REALLY surprised me. One handed flattish topspin backhands dip in nice and deep with this setup (for me). I could NEVER string anywhere near that low back in the day with the old SynGut and remotely keep the ball in, but also my old 1990 Pro Staff 95 5.5 si's are more powerful than these new Six.One 95s too. Also for context, my strokes aren't anywhere near back up to speed (or anywhere near as hard/fast) now compared to when I was an NTRP 5.5 junior. The string doesn't feel harsh to me, but it does have this oddly “muted/dead” feel compared to what I'm used to, which seems to be a trait of polys from what I've read. Has good control and predictability, no clue on longevity yet. Just ordered 2 more sets to try in one of my 5.5 si's and in my other Shift Pro to compare. So far so good, minus the (lack of) feel.
LUXILON ALU POWERThe best string on the market
Great spin and controlGives me great spin and control! I recommend this string if you would like to get control and would like to spin the ball. Sometimes my topspins are hard for opponent to return due to spin.
