Overview

New Balance continues their heritage 800 series with the 806, carrying on the tradition of superior stability and support. The shoe includes New Balance's ROLLBAR technology which helps to minimize the movement of the back of your foot, making sure you're in total control of your aggressive strides and cuts on court. The full leather upper gives off a classic style and look, and is reinforced by extra protection in the front for the frequent toe dragger. This is yet another solid offering in the successful 800 line.

  • Upper: Full grain leather upper with a reinforced toe for added durability.
  • Midsole: ABZORB midsole offers tons of cushioning and support, and the ROLLBAR helps to control rear-foot movement.
  • Outsole: NDurance rubber compound offers exceptional wear and traction on all surfaces.
  • Color: White / Navy Blue / Grey

806I’ve bought these 806s for several years now. They work well for me and hold up well, although I only play on soft courts. Reliable fit and I think the arch support helps prevent the dreaded plantar fasciitis. I hope the price holds as I’m not eager to pay more than I do now. Definitely recommend them.

Broken strapGood tennis shoe overall. Durable and grippy, slides well on clay. However, on one shoe, the shoe horn strap at the back (for pulling on the shoes) arrived severed halfway through, and tore completely within the first 2 weeks. A shame, because I usually applaud New Balance for their quality. This was a let-down.

Finally a shoe that fit my feetAfter trying several brand names and models I finally found a tennis shoe that fit my feet. Have only played in it a few times and so far I find it comfortable and it provides adequate support. Draw backs - requires a break-in period, not the most breathable ( feet get too hot after about 2 hours)

Best fitting tennis shoeNew Balance MC 806 W 4E Men's Shoes. This tennis shoe is the best I have ever to date purchased. Reason for is because it is the shoe that has a wide profile for wide feet. Most tennis shoes do not accommodate a wide foot, whereas this shoe does. It has been the shoe of choice for several years now. And is a good comfortable fitting tennis shoe, which I will continue to purchase to solve my wide foot issue.

ComfortA very comfortable shoe requiring no break in time. It is not particularly good in terms of performance—it seems a bit clumsy. For all day comfort and fit on any court surface it is a winner however.

Not the 1006I have been using 1006 4E for many years. These have a narrow toe box and are extremely uncomfortable.

MC 806Great shoe that I have been buying for several years. My only complaint is the sole wears out too quickly around the edges of the heal. The rubber could be thicker or tougher in that area.

Review of New Balance MC806 W 2EI have been using these shoes for several years. I have a wide foot, and these tennis shoes fit me very well right out of the box. My only complaint is that they do not last very long, which is probably due to my playing three to five times per week.

Comments: I've been playing with New Balance 806 line for decades. I ordered the 2E, size 10 to match my ten year old ones, and the shoe is too short and too narrow. I am a senior doubles player 3.5.

Comments: I have been buying the New Balance 800 series shoes since the early 1990s. I like them, but lately the 806s have been coming apart.
From: Mel, 5/14/19

Comments: I came back to NB after trying all the others. Normally NB has had a wide toe box and the whole shoe has been simply to big. I have played in these for about a month now. The toe area is fine, still a bit big, but the arch support is not so strong. The toe area on the sole has a ridge cut across it and you have to make sure your toes bend with it. Better then the previous model but I would look elsewhere again. Wish Prince would come back with the TI Quik Trac.

Comments: I like these shoes except for the heel cushioning. There is no break-in required. There is no pinching or toe jamming. These shoes are very stable on the court. I tried several insoles but so far none provided the heel cushioning that I want. If I cannot find a good replacement insole for additional heel cushioning, I won't buy these shoes again.

Comments: I bought a new pair of New Balance shoes every year (for past 7 years). This is the first model (MC 806) who's sole has worn out in less than 4 months. I only play doubles twice a week for about 90 minutes each time. It is just absurd that the balls of both shoe soles have worn through in such a short time. I just learned that their NDurance warranty means you can only use it one time in your lifetime -- not per pair of shoes. So this will be my last pair of New Balance shoes and then I'll be switching brands. What a shame that they have clearly dropped their manufacturing quality so significantly in 2014.
