Overview

Tourna Big Hitter Black 7 is an uncommonly elastic and comfortable co-poly. Boasting seven sharp edges, this string bites hard, delivering massive ball rotation. Our testers noted high comfort and extra kick on serves. Designed for heavy spin, medium power, and maximum precision. Performs well at low tensions. A great option for players who want that crisp poly feel without having to sacrifice comfort.

Try this thin 18 gauge for more spin and feel than the other gauges.

  • Gauge: 18/1.20mm
  • Length: 40ft/12m
  • Composition: Polyester and polyether
  • Color: Black

Big Hitter Black 7 18 gaugeI had been playing with this string for 3 years… 16 gauge strung at 55 lbs. Then I was encouraged by my stringer to experiment with various gauges and tensions. I started out using 16 gauge strung at 52 lbs. then at 48 lbs. I liked what I was feeling. Then we tried 17 gauge…same tensions. Better feel. Then I tried the 17 gauge at 45 lbs. Good power, good feel! Then my stringer told me to take “the leap of faith” and go to the 18 gauge at 45. Wow! Loved it. And then I tried the 18 gauge at 40…it took some getting used to. Lots of power AND comfort. Ease of effort and easy on the arm! And with the string edges, spin was easily achieved and the racquet/strings really helped me settle in to Control Comfort and hitting a “Heavy” ball. Durability is outstanding at the lower tensions. I’m a 4.5 and recommend trying these at various gauges and tensions. You will be rewarded.

Better than expected!I was hesitant to try a new poly with edges but a friend of mine uses it and told me about it. I tried a full bed in a Prestige MP L strung at 48 pounds. I had no trouble keeping the ball in play and the power wasn’t bad. Spin however was off the charts! I had multiple people compliment or complaining on how my ball was moving differently than it normally does. It was far more comfortable than I expected it to be. I’m not sure how it would work in a hybrid set up though with it being pretty sharp. I have a feeling it would saw through syn gut or multi pretty quick. Overall I was very pleased with this string. Even at 18 gauge I played four to five hours under intense play and it didn’t break. Good durability!
