Precise targeting meets plush feel

Wilson adds another chapter to the Clash 98 v2! Featuring the smallest head size in the Clash family, this stick delivers pinpoint targeting on full cuts. It also packs a 325+ swingweight, which provides the needed mass to get the ball moving through the court. In addition to updating this racquet with a 16x20 string pattern, Wilson reinforces the upper hoop to create a more solid and responsive hitting surface. As with the first generation of Clash racquets, the 98 v2 is defined by Wilson's innovative frame technology, originally called FreeFlex. Renamed FORTYFIVE, this patented frame technology enables the racquet to bend (and soften impact) across a wider geometry of stoke paths. The payoff is greater comfort when addressing the ball at extreme angles, a fact that makes the Clash very appealing to topspin players in search of a more tendon friendly option. Recommended to strong intermediates and advanced players.

Beautiful Racquet with Great Feel, But HeavyI’m a new tennis player, and while I really love the design and how the ball comes off this racquet, it feels noticeably heavier compared to others I tested around the same time. The look is top-notch—clean, stylish, and well-made—and the feel when hitting is solid and responsive. Every shot feels sharp and controlled, which I appreciate. But the weight has been a challenge. As someone still getting used to the game, I find it a bit tiring during longer sessions. It’s harder to maneuver quickly at the net or on fast exchanges. I’m hoping that with more time and play, my strength and technique will adjust to it, because I really do enjoy everything else about it. If you’re a beginner or someone who prefers a lighter, more forgiving frame, this might not be the best first choice. But if you’re okay with something a bit heavier and want a racquet that looks and feels high-quality, it’s worth considering. Just be ready for the extra weight.

Huge Update, Great PriceAfter renewing my commitment to tennis, I was playing with very outdated equipment. Not quite wood frames, but pretty old tech. With the help of AI, I researched similarities to find what qualities I liked about my older equipment with more arm friendliness for a senior in new equipment. I don’t need the latest and greatest cutting edge technology. Clash fit the bill. All the assets of my old, with all the new technology.

Wilson should keep making this racquetI'm sorry but it's a mistake from Wilson to stop making this racquet. I switched to it from the RF97 as I am getting older/arm issues and now I will have nothing to buy that plays similar with this much comfort. The new pro is just too light. I'm a 5.0 player.

Easy to play withI’m a 52 year old 4.0 player and switched to this racquet from an old BLX Six.One 95. There was an adjustment period because this one has a much higher launch angle. Lots of easy spin and I can use polys without any arm issues. It gets pretty mixed reviews but for my game it is perfect.

Performance without painIf you enjoy striking the ball, playing with power, spin and control. START here. This racquet simply feels great and does what you expect it to. I’ve purchased and played with every racquet for advanced players on almost any review list you’ll find and none were as complete as the Clash 98. One of my tennis buddies was complaining of his elbow hurting, told him I’d ordered two racquets and wasn’t playing with the other and he could try it out as long as he wanted. He and his wife ordered four. It’s a truly pleasure racquet. I hope you’ll give it a try.

Great racquet for those with tennis elbowPurchased the Clash based upon reviews stating it was a good racquet for those suffering with tennis elbow. The reviews were spot on as my wrist and elbow problems are much improved and the racquet hits well as a bonus.
