This gem from Wilson Pro Labs combines modern speed with classic control and feel

Introducing the Wilson Ultra Pro 18x20 v4!  Originally released as the Ultra Tour in 2017, this gem from Wilson's Pro Lab combines modern speed with a classic feel and outstanding control. Boasting a dense 18x20 string pattern along with a thin 20.6mm beam and buttery 62-RA, this stick will give you the sublime feedback and raw precision of a traditional player's racquet. Also noteworthy is this racquet's speed, making it one of the most user-friendly options in its class. Ultimately, by combining the laser-like trajectory of a traditional string pattern with a surgical 97in² head  and sub-320 swingweight, Wilson has created a racquet with a seductive combination of control, feel and maneuverability. In addition to being a great option for intermediates who are looking for a more accessible control racquet, the Ultra Pro makes a great customization platform for advanced ball strikers.

A players frame - no nonsenseA classic graphite frame, you feel where you hit in the string bed. The 18/20 helps reign in returns and flat first serves. Currently stringing with o toro tour in mains and restring sync in cross. Amazing racquet and string combination , at 54 and 52, respectively. The racquet has pop when you catch the middle and has incredible feel. Racquet technology can often times muddle the feel - string advancements are enough with a classic graphite frame like this to compete in the modern game. Lastly - cosmetically this is amazing, the glossy paint is incredible.

Oh manI normally like to use something longer than an hour before reviewing (plus my session got cut short by a thunderstorm), but I think I've found my new favorite racquet. I've been a fan of Pro Staffs since 1990, but this Ultra Pro 18x20 gives me the "old school" Pro Staff feel/playability and allows me to really swing without overhitting at lower tensions. For reference, I used to have to string my old Pro Staff 95 5.5's at 68 pounds to keep the ball in the court. I got my Ultra with Toroline Caviar at 53 pounds... first time using this string... and loved the combo right off the bat. My one-handed backhands were effortless, I was serving better than with my Shift or any of my Pro Staffs (I have over a dozen of them) and getting a lot of spin/kick on my second serve along with good pace. Forehand didn't come around quite as quickly, but I might've just been having a bad forehand day... it happens. The racquet felt stable for being such a lightweight racquet (mine is 329 grams strung with an overgrip), and just the right amount of power for my strokes at a low (to me) tension. I just kept wanting to serve with it, which never happens. Debating on adding some weight to 10 and 2, but not sure yet as I really like how it feels on serves, but perhaps could use a little more swingweight on backhands. I love this racquet so far, and this is the first racquet I've picked up since I can remember where I was blown away immediately by how it plays and feels.

Magically DeliciousThis racquet is my lucky charm. Yes, aesthetically, it is a beautiful racquet, …the way, the blue and the purple glossy paint play against each other against the black lettering, grip and protector bar. It looks much better in real life than online. Secondly, it’s a 97 sq/inch racquet but plays like an100 sq/head racquet. I love how it plays lighter than it seems. It’s whippy with the six point headlight ness… 11.4 point ounces but not as lifeless as some of my other 11.4 racquets. However, it is very solid on impact. Not heavy, just solid…easy to maneuver on forehand top spins, backhand slice is great, One handed backhand superb, solid at the net, And good at serves because I generate my own power, but easy to manifest any type of serve you want, From flat, kick or devilish spin. I usually play with a 16 x 19 string pattern, but this 18 x 20 just gives me confidence and control on every shot. (I followed the TW recommendation of 53 pounds) I have lots of racks in my collection, but usually play with the VCore 95 (A bit underpowered but very CONTROL oriented and I love Yonex) my Prince Phantom 93P (Beautiful racquet, smooth, buttery and very precise but a little bit heavy at 12.3 ounces) and on and on. This Ultra Pro puts all them together into one nice package. As the description says, it’s its own unique and individual racquet... has his own character… whatever they did at Wilson to put it together, it all works harmoniously. I will not customize it because to me it works beautifully as is.

Great RacquetLove this racquet got this back in December and I have been having a blast with it. Strung it with Yonex Rexis Comfort 16l at 50 pounds and it's been great!

Good control racquet on the lighter sideRacquet definitely has good control. It feels a little bit stiff IMO, although it says it has an RA of 62. It feels quite light for a control frame. Personally, I did not love it because of how light it was. I added 15 grams on the handle and about 3 grams between 3 and 9 and 1.5 more grams at 12, and still felt like it did not have enough plow. I demoed it next to a Blade 98 V8 18x20, and the blade felt more controlled and with more plow. I added 10 grams on the handle of the Blade and 1.5 grams at 12.

Outstanding in all areas!! Wow!I've tried all the top players frames out there, Wilson Pro staffs, Wilson Blades, Head Pestiges +mids, Dunlop 200, Volkl Powerbridge, This racquet is far and above for control and ball placement! The weight of the racquet is spot on too, not too heavy not too light! Wilson nailed it here. However i did add just a 1.5 inch of lead tape to the very tip of the racquet to help on serves. I am a 4.5 male player. This racquet gives you so much more options on the court than any other racquet i've ever hit with, drop shots are amazing, slices are great, angles are the absolute best i've ever done. Serves are easy, it hits the sweet spot every time! This truly is a gem! Better stock up on these! Not too mention it's the best looking racquet on the market right now, it's beautiful! I've got it strung perfectly at 48 mains 45 crosses with Volkl Cyclone tour.

Amazing customizable players racquet! The racquet has a great blend of control and accessible power as standard; however, its unique selling point is how customizable the frame is. I've added lead to the head and throat area to create the perfect weighted stick for me.
