Overview

With the Pro Staff 97L v13 Wilson brings the seductive feel and precision of the Pro Staff experience to the rising intermediate player. This racquet has similar cosmetic stylings to Federer's RF97 Autograph, complete with the same subtle elegance, velvety paint and chrome touches. At only 10.8 ounces strung, the 97L will help you swing faster when loading the ball with pace and spin. It also has a surgical 97in² head, which translates into extra confidence when selecting ambitious targets. Updated with Braid 45 for 2020, a portion of this racquet's graphite fibers have been strategically woven at a 45 degree angle to enhance feel, pocketing and stability. The Pro Staff 97L v13 also gets updated with Wilson's String Mapping, which creates denser spacing in the hitting area for a more predictable and controlled response. On groundstrokes, the 97L feels comfortable, crisp and precise. Intermediate players will find spin-friendly targeting on full swings, and the stiff beam construction will help you get the ball moving powerfully through the court. Compared to the previous generation, this update feels faster, making it slightly better for scrambling on defense or hitting shots on the run. At net the quick handling will help you react quickly and  stay active. Although not as stable as the heavier models in the series, this racquet feels solid for its weight class. The speedy feel is also an asset on serve where this stick whips very easily through contact. Ultimately, with subtle tweaks to the feel and response, Wilson has produced an impressive update to the Pro Staff 97L. The faster feel is a nice bonus.

The New Pro StaffI have the original Pro Staff famous from Pete Sampras and I decided to try this one. Wow! It is freaking light! Very fast and the look is beautiful. The top part of the racquet is carbon fiber. Very fancy.

Amazing feel! The racquet has it all, good spin potential, good control, and great stability. However, it stands tall above all others due to its amazing feel. Great playing experience!

My new go to racketThis was my first “real” racket that wasn't from a big box store. It took a little bit to get used to the different feel, but I love it now. I'm a 3.5 and play 2-3 times a week if I'm lucky. The light version works well for me even though I probably could've gone one weight up. I bought two because I know this will be my racket for a while now.

Love this racketI love this racquet. I'm a senior but didn't want to go to the large racquets. Yes, the head is small, but I find that I am more accurate and can hit both harder and softer shots. I also have had great success not having any arm/elbow problems, which I attribute to both the racquet, strings (Luxilon Element 16/1.30) and string tension (50 lbs). This is my second Pro Staff and I am very happy.

Best feeling and fastest swingWent from Head Radical MP (my racquet over the last 25 years) to ProStaff 97L. Time goes on, but Wilson gives us (40-year-old guys) a tool to heat the ball without losing a smaller head size and precision feeling.

Nice, good for beginnerDefinitely consider choosing the lighter racquet if you lack strength or are a beginner. The design is elegant and simple.

Comments: Love this racquet, but even more I love the way Tennis Warehouse strings. The best.

Comments: I have been competing for about 3 months and I decided to buy my first professional tennis racquet. I had a recreational racquet and it is a great leap. My coach recommended it to me and I did not hesitate to buy it. It feels so good to hit the ball, it is very comfortable, very precise and above all it has fantastic control. I say I do not want to know about more racquets because this is everything for me. I recommend it for advanced intermediate level players!

Comments: I am a 3.5 women player. Played for last 4 or 5 years. I got this racquet for a Christmas present and loved how light it is and it's so easy to volley and serve with in comparison to my old Babolat 2019 Pure Areo, which felt to be much stiffer and heavier. However, I always wondered if the lighter weight made it have a bit less plow-through. I still like my Babolat for control and baseline, but I think this racquet will be a better fit for me if I want to play more often. 9 months into it, the racquet had a stress fracture on the inside of the frame; however, I called Tennis Warehouse, and sent it back. TW customer service was excellent. Emailed me the free return shipping label by UPS. It was covered under a 1 year manufacture warranty, and I just got my new racquet today. I am very happy that I got a brand new racquet today, and can't wait to go hit with it again. Thank you TW! I will definitely order from you again.

Comments: Very good racquet. It has great feel and control.

Comments: Originally I tried the standard Pro Staff racquet, but found it a little too heavy for me. It played well in the beginning, but the weight slowly created a sluggish swing and I found myself switching back to my Clash. The 97L is very similar to my Clash racquets, only with more power. I am still trying to get the right balance of string and tension, so the 97L gives me the variety I needed. I play with the Clash 98, Head RIP Control 17 @ 54lbs. I'll switch the Pro Staff 97L to Head RIP Conytol 16 @ 55lbs.

Comments: The selection of a racquet is a very subjective endeavor whereby the player assesses their current capability and racquet against where they chose to be. The customer service representative from Tennis Warehouse encouraged the demo program to help narrow our search; and we chose this racquet. This racquet is a wonderful melange of weight, grip, swiftness, and supports a mid level payer to improve their game. This racquet is great, but you will need to slightly tune your style of play for any new racquet. After approximately three weeks, I felt comfortable enough to resume competition play in a local league, we are not professionals.Thank you Wilson for producing such a quality racquet.

Comments: I am Coach Dave out of Rancho Cucamonga, very successful 5.5 level number two in California. I think this racquet is amazing feels great with the Wilson NXT strings and stringer. I'm going to string it up with some texture polyester and see how it feels. Good job Wilson.

Comments: Solid racquet, good feel, this is my second. It's one of the Pro Staff line, which are racquets you can never go wrong with. I previously had the heavier Pro Staff and as I've gotten older the weight was too much.

Comments: Great racquet, thanks.

Comments: I must say that I have been playing with the blue Laver Cup version of this racquet for a long time and every day the racquet behaves better! The great speed provided by the head of the racquet compensates for the lack of weight, so my strokes are always deep and heavy! It is super comfortable and very easy to move, after two hours of intense playing my arm does not feel any discomfort! Excellent racquet. It is strung at 49 pounds!
From: Gusty, 3/23/21

Comments: This racquet is amazing. I have this 97L version and the regular version, not the RF. I was surprised of the control and stability this stick provides considering the fact that it only weighs 290 grams unstrung. This is an all around racquet for those who look for more maneuverability and faster swing. I am of a small in stature so this lighter version suits better for my game. After playtesting both versions, I found that this 97L is easier on the arm and provides a bigger sweetspot. I am a 4.0 level baseliner.
From: Jonathan, 3/1/21

Comments: This version of the 97L feels more stable and offers better control. Good update.

Comments: I was playing with my old Pro Staff 6.0 95 and needed to upgrade to a lighter frame. First of all, the design of the racquet pays great respect to the original and the v13 has a significant difference in feel from the previous version. I recommend this racquet to someone who realizes their older racquet is too heavy.
