Six Zero Pickleball Paddles Explained

We breakdown Six Zero paddles in terms of what differentiates them from each other along with what type of paddle performance you can expect.

Six Zero has not been in the game of making pickleball paddles as long as some of the others, but this Australian pickleball company has quickly earned itself a reputation as an industry leader and gained a global community of players in the process.

To get a clear idea of what to expect from Six Zero’s ever-growing list of high-quality paddles we offer our take on them along with spec charts for quick comparison.

The Gem Series

Thus far there are three paddles in the Gem series, the Ruby, Sapphire and the Quartz. These paddles are offered in three different shapes: a compact, elongated and hybrid.

The Six Zero Quartz offers a nice blend of power and precision for all-court capability.
Any level of player will find turnkey performance at an incredibly friendly price at under $90. This compact paddle feels agile and speedy through the air, and it is also comfortable enough for all-day play.

The most powerful of the Gem paddles is the Six Zero Sapphire. It’s also the longest paddle, which delivers easy power and extra reach. The handle is also longer, which players who hit with a two-handed backhand will enjoy. Although the Sapphire provides leans more toward power, there is plenty of control.

Last up to bat in the Gem series is the Six Zero Ruby. This is a hybrid shaped paddle that is ideal for players who want to hit with more spin and control. The added spin is achieved with an Aramid Fibre hitting surface. This paddle surface boosts precision rather than power and also quiets the response at contact of the ball. When all is said and done, the Six Zero Ruby is a control-oriented masterpiece, with a measured amount of power and tons of comfort.

Paddle Shape Core Surface

Average Weight

Quartz Compact 15 mm Raw carbon fiber 7.9 oz
Sapphire Elongated 13 mm Raw carbon fiber 7.9 oz
Ruby Hybrid 14 mm or 16 mm

Aramid fibre

8.2 oz

The Infinity Series

What sets Infinity line apart from other Six Zero paddles is the edgeless design. Currently, there are two Infinity paddles, the Black Diamond Infinity and Double Black Diamond Infinity. An edgeless design offers you a slippery feel through the air compared to the usual paddle design with an edge guard.

The wind-cheating aerodynamics of the Infinity’s edgeless design make the paddles easier to manage and get into position on time shot after shot. Both paddles are lively overall, but the power-to-control ratio for the Black Diamond Infinity slightly favors power. This translates to serves, returns and groundstrokes that are hard for opponents to deal with. On the other hand, the Double Black Diamond is ideal for players who want to create more of their own power from the baseline, while enjoying mindless precision when it comes to midcourt and kitchen line strategies.

Paddle Shape Core Surface Average Weight
Black Diamond Infinity Hybrid 16 mm Carbon fiber composite 7.9-8.3 oz
Double Black Diamond Infinity Hybrid 16 mm Raw carbon fiber 7.9-8.3 oz

The Diamond Series

The Diamond paddle series is designed to offer the best in durability and power thanks to advanced carbon technology at the premium level. We offer three Diamond series paddles: the Black Diamond Power, Double Black Diamond Control and Double Black Diamond Elongated.

The Double Black Diamond Control and Black Diamond Power paddles are easy to swing for any level of player. Those who like to hit big serves, returns and groundstrokes or just want a paddle that easily generates power without requiring a ton of their own effort will enjoy the Black Diamond Power. On the contrary, the more precision-oriented nature of the Double Black Diamond Control is the way to go if you still want power mixed with a higher degree of control.

The Black Diamond Power and Double Black Diamond Control are both hybrid shapes and are available in either a 14 mm or 16 mm core width. Their internal construction is the same, but the Power paddle has a carbon fiber composite hitting surface, which provides slightly more power compared to the Control’s raw carbon fiber surface.

The heavier and longer Double Black Diamond Elongated is better suited to intermediate and advanced players or those who prefer more of a racquet feel as opposed to a paddle feel. The added weight and extra length make this paddle one of Six Zero’s most powerful paddles.

Paddle Shape Core Surface Average Weight
Black Diamond Power Hybrid 14 mm or 16 mm Carbon fiber composite 7.9-8.3 oz
Double Black Diamond Control Hybrid 14 mm or 16mm Raw carbon fiber 8.1 oz
Double Black Diamond Elongated Elongated 15 mm Raw carbon fiber 8.1 oz

In Conclusion

No doubt, Six Zero has a variety of different paddles to choose from and at different price points. That said, the common thread that runs through all the paddles Six Zero makes is their high quality. The company also has a great reputation for research and development in terms of refining its methods for unibody and thermoformed construction. These improvements benefit players who use Six Zero paddles and help the entire industry at large develop as other paddle manufacturers begin to take cues from the Aussie company’s construction techniques.
