Provided Shoelaces Too Short for Larger SizesI've been wearing Asics Gel-Challenger tennis shoes for about the last 10 years. For the last 2 years, my foot size has been men's 12, and I have somewhat high arches. I buy 4 pairs of these shoes each year. Overall, they have served me very well, and in my opinion, and for my feet, they are excellent shoes. My only gripe is the provided laces are too short to tie easily and comfortably with the size 12. This is only when the "runner's" lacing eyelets are used, but I must lace this way to avoid excessive heel slippage and prevent Achilles tendon injury. I found a shoelace company that ships from Denmark selling 70" athletic shoelaces. These work well, but I don't feel I should be initially stuck with laces that just aren't long enough for the size 12 (and larger) shoe.
Good value for absolute beginnersI got this shoe when I was a 2.5 player and needed something better than regular shoes to ensure stability. I was happy with it. It lasted 6+ months with 4 hours of play per week. Eventually I noticed a hole where my pinky toe is and they had to be thrown out.
I ordered them again while looking for my new shoe alongside other more expensive models by ASICS, Nike and Adidas. And that’s when I realized their true quality. They are not great. They are super plasticy and not breathable at all, which also makes it hard for them to dry.
If you’re a very beginner (2.5) it’s good value for money, but if you’ve reached the 3.0 level invest in a better model.
On me.I have been wearing these shoes for some time now. They're great. Unfortunately this pair turned out to be to big. At first I thought it was in my head since they are marked 10 1/2. So I told myself to get over it and wore them a few times. Finally I got out the measuring tape and they were indeed to big. I wore them so they're mine now. So that's on me. Just check the size. Other wise great shoes and great company.
Good fit, good valueI’ve purchased a previous version of this shoe and liked the fit. So I purchased two more of this shoe and the fit is as I expected. The price was good compared to other more expensive ones.
Slightly narrowI have worn Asics tennis shoes for years. The 14 with the higher later support edge made the show uncomfortable for me as it felt slightly narrow due to the higher lateral edge support.
Great AsicsExcellent product. Just as described in the description
Light and Good control shoesThe Asics Gel Challenger 14 in White/Saxon Green is a solid choice for tennis players looking for a balance of comfort, stability, and durability. The Gel cushioning in the forefoot and rearfoot provides excellent shock absorption, making it great for long matches.
Very Narrow ShoesI have worn shoes from adidas, Wilson and other brands over my years of playing tennis, however I was looking for a very good shoe with excellent comfort and durability for my next shoe. I read many reviews about how good the ASICS Gel Challenger 14 were, however when I bought them and started to wear them around the house for a few days, they literally hurt the outside of my feet. I do not have wide feet and never bought a pair other than normal width shoes. These were by far the tightest shoes I have ever worn… I sent them back.
