High performance stability, and durability, with improved flexibility and comfort compared to previous versions.
When it comes to high performance shoes that specialize in stability, and durability, the Asics Gel Resolution 9 sets the bar high. Beyond the stability and durability that these shoes are known for, the flexibility and comfort has been improved, and is some of the best in class. The combination of a more flexible upper, paired with a more extensive Dynawall stability piece towards the heel, allows these shoes to feel more stable, but also more dynamic at the same time. The midsole provides layers of cushioning to help add energy to every step, while giving the comfort needed for hours of court time. Asics High Abrasion Rubber compound on the outsole features a new separated design for more stable landings, and allows aggressive movers and hardcourt sliders to burn rubber with confidence! Backed by a six month outsole durability guarantee.

Would not recommend, too wideNot good for narrow feet. Very durable
Bad designSo tight and they hurt my feet top.
Awesome shoe, only one I've found that keepsSuper stable, super grippy. I feel like I can change directions on the baseline super easily. A bit narrow but really no complaints.

Stable and locked downI'm prone to rolling my ankles but in these shoes I feel incredibly stable and locked down. Really easy to move in intuitively in whichever direction. It did feel slightly narrow at first but it broke in really quickly. Wet grip is pretty bad though so be careful.

ASICS Shoes Rock!Asics Gel Resolution 9 shoes are the best — get fit and gel support right out of the box results in most comfortable pair of shoes.

FireShoes are near perfect so far. They’re very comfortable, yet feel very firm. As soon as I put them on I wanted to go on a run and be active

very narrow, durable but lose gripI think I could have enjoyed these way more if I could have gotten a better fit. These are definitely not for people with wide feet. I have a fairly average width foot but like to have space but these were super tight. A 9.5 was true to size length wise but way too tight and felt weird durability wise, these have been the best I've tried. Kind of. The soles lasted the longest without wearing through but I wore them out unevenly so it was causing me to pronate. And then I just didn't have grip even though I didn't wear through the sole. Could have been real good if I wore out shoes evenly possibly.

The Best Tennis Shoe.I have worn ASICS for several years. I have never been disappointed. Response on the hard court is unmatched. They are easy on my feet during play and after. They wear well on and off the court. They are hard to replace.

Nice fitVery nice fit! However, not very durable for sliders that drag their feet.

The best tennis shoe out thereThe Gel Resolution 9 has a balance that is unmatched. From comfort, how it hugs your foot, durability, the ability to break it in, the shoe is top notch. I usually wear size 12.0 and got 11.5 and it is perfect.

Asics Gel ResolutionFor me these shoes ran a little big... no problem, I returned them and received a smaller size in less than a week. Great job Tennis Warehouse.

DurabilityThe only bad thing about them is that they are not durable for sliders

The bestProbably one of the best if not the best court shoe I’ve ever worn. It is very comfortable out of the box and super supportive. The shoe feels light and I feel like I can easily run around the court with no issues. 10/10 shoe for me. If you have wider feet, I’d recommend the wide option instead or go a half size up

Best tennis shoe right nowEverything the reviews say are true. This shoe is durable, supportive, and comfortable. In my season (for reference I play high school-level, though I’m on the advanced side) I played up to 20 hours a week, and this shoe lasted me up to six weeks before I couldn’t play on it (let me say, it wasn’t worn through at six weeks, it just wasn’t up to what I needed from them), which is actually high for me. They are also built for support. Don’t ask me why specifically, they just were. I love cinching the laces and when I did that on the Gel Res I felt good and safe about it, unlike some other shoes. On that note, the comfort is good as well. It’s not as obvious as the durability or support, but it’s still really strong. It feels like it’s hugging your feet really nicely. The negatives are really minor overall, and are definitely overlook-able. In fact, they’re really only things I didn’t find to be particularly special about the shoe. One thing is the weight. As with many tennis shoes, it weighs a lot. I love feeling like I can run fast, glide on the court, and jump a couple feet in the air if I wanted, and I didn’t necessarily feel that with these shoes. This is really a preference thing, and I chose speed, which is why I actually switched to the ASICS Solution Speed 3, which isn’t necessarily as good as the Gel Res on many fronts (I reviewed those too if you’re curious). I have gone worn five different shoes over my high school career, and the Gel Res is still better than three of them in speed. Another minor issue for me is the breathability. When you cinch it as tight as I do, it’s to be expected, but again, it’s not particularly better than average. Overall, a really great shoe, and probably the best for a wide market. It’s an “all of the above shoe,” and I just needed the extra speed, hence the switch. Still, I’d say it is objectively better overall than the ASICS Solution Speed.

Resolution 9Been wearing Resolutions for a number of years now. Tried out the FF's but can't stand pulling them on so back to these. Just a better overall fit than other shoes for me.

Good shoe but too narrow...I liked the shoe, very solid construction, but it was too narrow for my foot.

Comfort right out of the boxGreat shoes so far. Break-in period is minimal, which I appreciate. Shoe upper was designed to last. The best tennis gear items are the ones you never have to think about on the court and this is one of them.

Asics Gel Resolution 9I was disappointed because I was really looking forward to this model. Left shoe feels okay, right shoe clunky, there's an edge that hits the side of my foot. I was also hoping for more support off the ground as I am on hard courts a few hours a day.

SizingThey seem to run a bit smaller than their stated size

Gel Res 9Replacing my worn out Gel Res 9, these were the first ones from this and previous generations that seemed a little narrower in the toe box. Played with my old ones and confirmed it. Paid to have them stretched out and now they are wearable.

Caused bunionsI have been playing in this shoe for many months but had to stop due to big toe pain and a bunion forming. This shoe took me about 10 sessions to break in which is absurd. After breaking in, they felt okay, but I would always have toe pain afterward. They are good for sliding though. My feet are medium, but I cannot wear this shoe again. Toebox is too pointy. Not worth it for me personally. Hope this helps.
Resolution 9I had three pairs of the Gel Resolution 7's. Absolutely loved them. Bought the 8 and found them to be narrow and tight. Hoped the 9 would fix this problem and it did not. The 9 is still narrow and tight. Using shoe trees to try and stretch them. This will probably be the last time I buy.
Newer isn’t betterI’ve been wearing the Gel-Resolution's for at least the last ten years. I just received the 9’s, and found they are narrower than the prior models. I have a heel spur behind my Achilles, and haven’t had an issue with the prior models. Within two minutes of walking on a treadmill to test the shoes, the area around my Achilles started burning severely. I returned them the same day.
One of the best, but not the bestAsics have been my go-to shoe for the last year and a half, with the FF3s and Gel Res 9s being solid. The Gel Res 9s provide very solid stability in a fairly lightweight package, being that they compete in the stability market versus the lightweight market, ie Vapor Pro 1/2. These shoes have quite significant arch supports, something I felt after switching between these and the FF2s and FF3s. The shoe has a durable outsole, one that takes well to sliding and general aggressive movement. The more aggressive you move in general, the more you will come to appreciate the shoe. Asics, when compared to my experience with all of Nike and adidas's shoes, have proven to be solid in every aspect. Only issue, they have weak medial/inner protection for sliding on hard court, meaning they rip for me in 2-3 months all the way through. But even then, with then 6-month durability guarantee, they are a pretty solid deal. If you're looking for comfort and ultimate stability, check out the FF3. Otherwise, if looking for well-balanced all around shoe, go Gel-Res 9s.
The quality is not backI recently gave this shoe a 5 star rating under the title “ The Quality is Back.” Unfortunately, that rating was premature. After playing in the shoe several times I started to feel pain in my achilles tendons. I never had this before and it only started once I started playing in the Gel Resolution 9’s. I switched back to my Diadora shoes and the problem was taken care of. I compared the Gel Resolution 9s to an old pair of Gel Resolution 7s and it appears that the 9s have a plastic piece for support that comes up higher in the back of the shoe on both sides of the achilles.
The 7s which don’t give me problems don’t have this. The Diadora shoes don’t have this either. Hopefully, this issue only impacts me but it is something to watch out for.
The Quality is Back!I had been a loyal Gel Resolution wearer for many, many years until version 8. For me, that shoe was horrible and unwearable. I just tried version 9 and I am very happy to report that ASIC is back on track. The shoe felt great/comfortable right out of the box, the stability was excellent, and the shoe had a light feel despite the weight. Very happy to back on court with my Gel Resolutions. For reference I am a high 4.5 playing 4-5 times per week.
