The Vanguard Control Epic is the culmination of more than two years of R&D by Selkirk. Power wise, this paddle is positioned between the ultra-control oriented Selkirk LUXX series of paddles and the easy-power of the Power Airs. Among the significant upgrades to the Vanguard Controls is a T700 Raw QuadCarbon surface, which consists of two layers of T700 raw carbon on each side of the paddle face. Aside from incredible spin potential and improved face durability, stacking the carbon sheets affords a high degree of do-everything shot predictability and obedience. In addition, combining the surface materials with Selkirk’s modification made to its premium 16mm X5+ Polypropylene Core helps further shot accuracy, increases comfort and minimizes the acoustic footprint in the neighborhood. Another improvement relates to the octagonal grip, which enhances feel and minimizes effort for those split second grip changes in the heat of competition. Available from 7.3 – 8.1 oz., the somewhat compact shape of the Epic provides a very connected feeling to the ball and complements paddle agility, no matter the weight, making the Vanguard Control Epic a versatile and capable partner from all parts of the court.
