Comfortable and Fun to play withHaving used the Pure Aero 98 2023 and Head Speed MP 2022. This racquet has been my go to. Super comfortable on the arm, and fun to play with in terms of shot creation.
Very lovable racquetI've been playing with Clash Pro V1 since first launch. I've tried and tamed to change racquet to newer racquets including Clash V2 and V3 but couldn't switch. One racquet I 99% almost switched was TFight 305s. It was bit stiff on my arm. I really liked the Wilson Shift but I couldn't really commit to it. I've tried almost every new racquets on the market but couldn't settle. Then, I tried Defyer 98 pro in stock version and instantly I thought I could switch to this. Compared to my Clash V1 pro it lacked power but slightly low and k ew something I can adjust to it because Defyer Pro 98 gave me more than Clash could. I was able to generate sharp angle shots that had opponents run into fence. Not just that, my shots were all landing in due to better spin where I can hit loopy spin ball. I'm a one hand backhand player and I had much more confidence hitting backhand topspin drives. Serve was landing better and volley was superb. After doing some several modifications, I was able to set it to my liking. First I switched to leather grip but it made the racquet feel like stell hard. I switched back to synthetic grip and added silicon butt cap and added 3 grams to 3/9 clock spots and bingo. It maintained the versatility of this Defyer 98 racquet characteristics and made it powerful to mimic Clash V1 Pro.
Blueprint of modern RacquetsI've been a APD/PD fan since 2005 until last quarter of 2025 when i started arm discomfort. I tried many lighter racquets until and lowered string tensions, switching to monofilament.. No more desire to go back with my 4 versions of APD/PD until i heard about the hype of Defyer being similar to Babolat... I went straight and bought it without demo....
Surprising, it is not the same to my feel... Totally different despite having almost the same specs . It feels lighter ,and the faster you swing , the more control you have.... If this is a Car, it responds to your touch.... I will definitely switch to this racquet for good.
A good all around racquetNever liked Wilson frames. This one is different. It’s surprising solid despite the low swing weight. Some people could benefit from weight to 3 and 9. It’s extremely versatile and user friendly. I wouldn’t say it’s amazing in any one category but very good in almost everything. Good power w/o being overbearing. Good spin but still compliments flatter swings. Good feel and touch. I think it’s a better middle ground than the pure aero 98 and vcore
Tis My RacquetI've owned and played with more racquets than I'd probably like to admit. Over the past 3 years I've gone through Wilsons, Heads, Tecnifibres, Babolats, Solincos, different head sizes, string patterns, weights, I've tried em all! A few racquets I thought were "the one" were; Wilson Shift, Wilson Blade, Pure Aero 98, Tecnifibre TF40. I was convinced they were "the one" until something eventually started bothering me (Arm pain, wrist pain, inconsistency).
The Wilson Defyer is the first racquet in a very long time that has made me stop thinking about what I should try next. And for me that might be the biggest compliment I can give a racquet.
The kind of player I am; This is important because racquet reviews can be almost meaningless without knowing how somebody actually plays. I'm a 4.5 recreational player. I'm not a huge spin player and I don't want a racquet that requires me to constantly whip up the back of the ball to control it. I play a much more traditional, flatter game (Guide the ball). I like driving through the ball and changing direction. My favorite shot is the forehand down the line, when I commit to that shot I want the racquet to feel completely predictable. And the Defyer gives me that confidence.
All groundstrokes feel very stable and predictable, even when i feel rushed or on the stretch. On flat backhands it gives me the same direct response I get on the forehand. Serving with this racquet is also great! I can really hit a flat accurate serve. Aim wide or down the T and it just simply goes. For volleys, I've played with better sticks but the stability is enough to hand any shot that comes at you. The Defyer gives great feedback without being harsh, so you know if you miss it the ball or hit it dead center. It's connected, not brutal.
There are many racquets that come with trade-offs-too stiff, too demanding, too inconsistent, or just not comfortable and easy to play with over time. The Defyer doesn't really have a glaring weakness for my game, that's the difference between all the other racquets.
No racquet is perfect, If you want extreme spin or effortless power there are better options for you. But for my game-flat-controlled-all-court tennis-it fits really well. The Defyer gives me everything I need; Control, enough power, stability, maneuverability, comfort, and confidence.
My current string is Solinco Tour Bite at 48 lbs but i may change it to 4G.

Not a Aero 98 Despite Same Specs.Been a Wilson Pro Staff fan all my life (now using RF01 Pro). Recently bought a second hand 2023 Aero 98 to see if the hype is real. It is, and of course much easier to play with than the PS or RF
Then the Redline 98 came out (I got the first batch). I tried back-2-back with my Aero 98. Same string (Solinco 18 Mach 10 @ 46/44) Despite same spec. The Aero has more power. But the Defyer feels more solid. Coming from PS97 (340 gram) and RF01 Pro (320 gram), I have been obsessed with heavier rackets. But the Redline 98 feels very ok. My usual opponent says I definitely hit harder than the RF01 Pro
A few things absolutely stood out (somehow): Slice serve out wide in the deuce court (easy). Backhand (more power). The most surprising is the slice (considering RF01 Pro is easy enough with the weight), Confidence is the word
The feel is just so different from the Aero. Not necessarily better (a personal preference after all)
Wilson De Fire!The hype is real. Still collecting my PA98 2023 though! Will always be the benchmark classic. But now I'm going to start collecting these sticks for the season. Challengers and ITFs are tough, so need a good set for the road. Love love love!
Great players racquetAmazing spin, feel, power. Massive upgrade over the Aero 98
Live up to the hypeMoving from an unforgiving prostaff to this... very easy transition. Well suited to my playing style - heavy forehand with looping spin, but flattens out when hit harder. Flatter backhand, big serve.
Worth the hype... no, but still excellent!Finally got to try this new Defyer 98 Pro on court, at first unboxing and holding the racquet, you immediately notice how light it is and feels "cheap," almost like a $20 racquet purchased from like Walmart. The glossy red paint job does look better in person as online reviews say though, even though I know everyone would have wanted the black python prototype paint job. Strung this with Toroline O-Toro at 54lbs and I'm a 3.5 player myself.
Even though holding the racquet feels light, you will notice when you swing this racquet, it feels firm and stiff, almost like you're expecting to hit some powerful winners. Groundstrokes to me was ok with this racquet, and I agree with everyone else when they say there's some Blade resemblance in regard to the control factor, but I felt at times you needed to put more "umph" for deeper shots into the court. Slices were excellent and stayed low and Serves were also great, although to me, it lacked a little power as oppose to using the Ezone 98/100, Ultra Pro 99 or 2026 Pure Aero, but slice serves with this racquet were phenomenal. I would say the best thing about this racquet was volleying, it does a really good job "blocking and deflecting back" at your opponent for its stability. Perhaps I need to try adding some weight myself as everyone seems to be saying it improved this racquet just so much more.
Now do I think this new Defyer was worth all the hype after the past year of all the Pro's play testing and those who had the black prototype, no....because you probably can play just as well and make the same opinions as if you were using the new Blade V10 or 2026 Pure Aero. It really just depends on players choice in the end.
