This ultra-plush player's racquet combines a buttery feel with impressive plow-through and accuracy

ProKennex adds another chapter to the heaviest member of the Black Ace family. It's called the Black Ace 315, and it combines spin-friendly precision with a buttery, plush feel at impact. Boasting a 330+ swingweight, the 315 has enough stability to redirect the pace of a big-hitting opponent. In the hands of someone who can harness its mass, the Black Ace packs ample power, but it specializes in control and touch. For 2025, the layup gets updated with a groundbreaking Aurealian carbon weave, resulting in a more consistent response while also enabling tighter manufacturing tolerances. Complementing this innovation is a technology called FlexLogic, which allows the racquet to bend in ways that enhance dwell time, pocketing, and feel. This racquet also benefits from ProKennex's legendary Kinetic System, which places movable mass at 3 & 9 o'clock in the head to boost stability and comfort. Additionally, this racquet features a Kinetic Comfort Cap, an innovative handle technology that reduces harsh vibrations. These time-tested Kinetic technologies offer one of the most arm-friendly hitting experiences available. Advanced players looking for an arm-friendly racquet with impressive accuracy and plow-through will love this one.

Beautiful feel, control not its strong suitKinetic tech can always be counted on to do its thing, but it really does hit different when it's in a stiffer racquet (like a Black Ace 105 or 7G), compared to when it's in a naturally flexy racquet like this. This 315 feels like a classic flexy frame that's been gilded with a modern glaze, and the result is a racquet which -- at least at this heavier spec -- feels so ridiculously comfortable that in terms of modern racquets, it really does belong in its own space. No, Clashes don't feel like this, not even close. If the Black Ace 315 is a polished limousine cruising down the highway, the Clash is a teflon-coated frying pan flung through the air like a frisbee by a frat boy. And I say that as a Clash lover! The 315 is just a solid, luxurious racquet to hit with -- it feels very premium, more so than the previous generation Aces -- and that mega-plush hitting sensation is super addictive -- any other racquet will feel wiry and clangy after this. But that does create a real downside, which is that for as solid and comfy as this racquet is, the ball does tend to enter the stringbed, whereupon it takes a short vacation in some other dimension, only to pop back out and go kinda sorta where it wants. That's an exaggeration obviously, but seriously, the strings just wrap the ball up for a while, and then when it comes back out, it's never reallllllly going where you want it to go. Not a dealbreaker for a lot of people, but it is what it is ... this is not really a control racquet. I'd actually call it a "GT racquet", a grand tourer like that limo, where handling isn't the reason you're driving it. I really think this would be a bit of a masterpiece if only it had the 16x20 pattern of the Q+ and Classic racquets. That extra string in a 100 makes so, so much difference, and this 315 is kind of a poster child for the issues that can crop up if you don't absolutely nail the string pattern situation in a head this size. This could all certainly be a me-problem, but I felt like I really needed to spin every shot to get some control, and whenever a racquet is dictating how to play, that limits who can really enjoy it. But if your optimal deal is a spinny, stable game where control isn't the tip top priority, and you want to be able to play as much tennis as possible in comfort and safety, then this stands on its own. It's beautiful to play with, and deserves to be played by more people than will play with it. It's just that one string away from perfection.

Very soft but somewhat firmHad a short hit just now and super arm friendly. Not a lot of topspin but great on slices. Serving ok but not bad. Feels similar to the ougoing model but heftier due to higher swingweight. The new cosmetic is very attractive. Not overpowering to play with. More control oriented. I would buy this or the 97 in head
